Healthiest meal/superdinner, anyone?

The “healthiest meal ever” has been created by food scientists, Leatherhead Food Research, a Leatherhead, Surrey based research institute, has claimed.

Based on scientific merits/facts, food researchers selected 222 health claims (cleared by EU food watchdogs) by filtering over 4,000 health claims used by manufacturers and supermarkets to tempt shoppers into buying their products.

The researchers then created a series of superfoods that only fills main meal but also have plenty of extra snacks and treats with equal healthy benefits.

The ultimate health meal/superdinner includes salmon terrine, mixed leaf salad, chicken casserole and yogurt blancmange.

The meal starts with a fresh and smoked salmon terrine which contains Omega 3 and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) known to be good for the arteries, heart and brain; a mixed leaf salad with a dressing of extra virgin olive oil (good for maintaining normal blood cholesterol levels).

The particularly nutritious main meal is chicken casserole with lentils and mixed vegetables. Studies show the main meal could safely make 80 official health claims, said the institute. The protein is good for growth in muscle mass, while lentils’ pantothenic acid helps reduce tiredness and improve mental performance.

A live yogurt-based blancmange topped with walnuts and a sugar-free caramel-flavoured sauce is served as dessert. The healthy benefits? good for digestion, the teeth and blood glucose control.

The scientists also introduce sports drink creation, said to boost performance. The drink contains many ingredients including micro nutrients such as biotin, calcium, zinc, chromium copper, iron, potassium, selenium, and magnesium.

“We have also shown that healthy foods do not have to be dull,” said Dr Paul Berryman, CEO of Leatherhead who conceived the idea as a perfect airline meal. “We carry out thousands of consumer taste tests a year and one thing is clear. No matter how healthy, if foods do not taste good they will not sell.”
